I had been using Xamarin Forms with Android Emulator in Visual Studio 2017 for some basic Android projects and it worked pretty well (though fairly slow). My hardware is i5, 12 GB RAM, SSD drive, and I recently activated Hyper-V. I read that VS 2019 had better android development performance so I installed on a side-by-side installation with 2017. I ran a couple Xamarin Android projects I developed in 2017 and it did seem a little faster. Lately though I have been have considerable issues running apps on the Emulator. I have installed 2 new Android V7.1 and V8.1 in the Android Device Manager. It's VERY painful to star an Android Emulator instance the first time. It can take 45 minutes or more. But even after the Android instance is up and running and stabilized the Android Emulator is very slow to respond to clicks, keyboard typing etc. Can anyone tell me the optimal setup for an Android Emulator instance. I am currently x86 and 1GB ram on each.
