I have a Xamarin Forms app (3.6.0.264807) that successfully runs on a connected Android device (Nexus 7) when debugging in VS 2017. However after archiving, the resulting package will not install on the same device. The Package Installer fails silently. The device log lists the following entry: "PackageInstaller: Unsupported scheme content".
What strategy should I adopt to diagnose the issue please?
Notes:
1. I uninstalled the application first (the one that was installed during debugging).
2. I ensured that the device accepts side-loading.
3. I followed the MS docs for preparing an app for release.
4. I changed linking to "None"
5. I turned off ProGuard
6. I turned on the "INTERNET" required permission (as suggested in this forum)
