I noticed that even with the simplest app Xamarin repeatedly (every minute or so) spawns a new thread after finishing the old one. On android the output window fills with 'thread started' and 'thread finishes' messages.
I never bothered about this until I was checking an app's memory consumption on a Samsung S8 device and then noticed that even when the app was actually swiped to the background that there is still processor activity showing up every minute or so.
Is this correct? If so, why is it there? Should I now stop telling people that it is not necessary to kill apps and leave them in the Recent Tasks list (because, as I learned in the past, an app that doesn't do anything with the network or interacts with other apps doesn't consume battery nor processor cycles)?
