XamlC, do we still use InitializeComponent?

I am afraid that maybe my app is not compiling the xaml? I am getting large slowdowns calling InitializeComponent(). Do we still need to call that if we are using XamlC at the assembly level? When I run without any InitializeComponents in, it cant find the controls. Ideas?
